Sabia Wade (she/they)
BADT Founder and Lead Teacher
Sabia, aka The Black Doula, is a Black, Queer, Full Spectrum Doula, Educator and Author of Birthing Liberation. She began her doula journey as a volunteer Full Spectrum Doula for The Prison Birth Project in 2015. She founded Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings in 2019 with the goal of bringing necessary education to doulas that are seeking to go beyond the traditional doula role and into advocacy work for the communities that need them.
Iya Mystique (they/she)
PROGRAM MANAGER & TEACHER
Iya Mystique is a “unicorn”, Blactinx queer femme, and certified radical birth worker currently pursing their path in traditional community birth work, lactation, research, and education, along with being a Pathway 3 Mentee to become a future IBCLC. With a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Iya Mystique is a trained newborn care specialist and advanced holistic plant medicine practitioner. Iya Mystique specializes in Caribbean-Indigenous practices in their role as an initiated Ifa priestess in perinatal health, reproductive health and justice, “Blactation” (Black lactation), and healing justice for Black LGBTQ+ communities. Iya Mystique's vision is to infuse their love for birth, postpartum, healing, education, and lactation into their future full spectrum practice.
Davina (she/her)
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Davina has over 14 years of administrative experience providing support to small business, students, and a variety of educational spaces. She is a birth worker, human design reader, and mother. Her journey to this work was a natural progression of intersecting interests in advocacy, justice, parenting, mental health, understanding how people work, paired with her skills at being a sounding board, coach, and support system for folks.
Jeffrey Shiau (they/he)
HEAD OF MARKETING
Jeffrey is a marketer, mentor, and writer among many other things. Re-imagining how we do business/marketing (sans manipulation, exploitation, and oppression) is at the heart of what they do. His work is rooted in how we can work, and more importantly, live well under capitalism in a way that moves us towards our collective liberation. They are passionate about supporting people and organizations that share the same aspiration
Court Harris (they/them)
BLOG COORDINATOR & WRITER
Courtney or “Court” is a witness, space-holder, supporter, and caregiver for families of all types and in all stages. They have served youth and their families since 2008. Court is passionate about honoring life’s transitions, and they believe that all birthing people deserve compassionate, steady, and informed support throughout their unique reproductive journeys. Court works with a wide range of clients, including folks who identify as highly sensitive, queer, trans, polyam, teens or young parents, and fellow caregivers. As a full-spectrum companion, Court is proud to elevate the voices and needs of each client they have the honor of serving. They are dedicated to inclusive, anti-oppressive work both in their personal and professional relationships and in the systems they live and work in. Outside of birth and coaching work, Court loves spending time with family, friends, and their cats. They can often be found swimming or walking, scrolling TikTok, or writing.
Kaytee Crawford, CD, CST, IBCLC (she/her)
LACTATION EDUCATOR
Kaytee supports families in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as a lactation consultant, craniosacral therapist, childbirth educator, birth and postpartum doula, and babywearing educator. She uses her training, combined with a wealth of experience in parenting four boys, to create personalized care as well as fun, insightful social media content.
Kaytee is passionate about sharing her experiences in pregnancy and lactation as a Black woman and person living in a larger body to create safer, trauma-free experiences for others.
Kaytee lives in St. Paul, Minnesota with her husband and four sons. She owns and operates “Doula Kaytee,” her birth working private practice.
Donette Lowe (she/they)
SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR
Donette is an herbalist and Afro-spiritualist currently studying North American Herbalism with a focus on spiritual herbalism. With a strong belief in holistic wellness, she explores the healing properties of plants and their connections to the mind, body, and spirit. As a seasoned social media consultant and content creator, Donette combines her expertise in herbalism with her digital marketing skills to promote sustainability, clean beauty, and the well-being of the Earth. She is deeply committed to eco-friendly practices and emphasizes the importance of living in harmony with nature. Donette's work as an herbalist and her spiritual connection to her heritage reflect her dedication to wellness and the preservation of traditional wisdom.
Lara Esrey (they/them)
ADMINISTRATIVE & TECH SUPPORT
Lara is a queer non-binary full spectrum doula. Within their doula practice they offer childbirth education, lactation & infant feeding support, and mentorship for new birthworkers. In their own practice they are especially passionate about helping folks prepare for, and feel supported through, postpartum. They love building relationships with their clients and helping them through the big transitions that come with reproductive choices and new parenthood. Behind the scenes of their business they can be found hiking, reading, cooking, or knitting. They are always finding something new to learn!
